This is a standing invitation: if you have any thoughts about what I’ve said here, I want to talk to you.
My email address is williamyaoh@gmail.com, and my handle on most platforms is also ‘williamyaoh’. I strongly prefer email as a communication method.
Feel free to send me email. Nothing you send me will make me hate you or think worse of you. (I mean, within reason. Death threats, hate mail etc.) The worst thing that will happen is that I’m a bit busy and don’t reply.
I like reading things. If you write something worth reading, tell me. If you read a book you think I’d like, tell me. Again, the worst thing that can happen as a result is I just don’t read it. All it cost you was a two-line email.
Be specific. If you give me a vague question like “what do you think about capitalism”, the answer you get back is going to be about as insightful as you question you gave me. Here are some examples that will elicit more interesting responses:
Get to the point. I’m not interested in pleasantries; don’t be rude, but don’t putter around the heart of what you’ve got to say, either.
Tell me what you think. The best interactions are when it’s a conversation, not a pulpit. If you have your own opinion on something that I’ve touched on, or there’s something that you think I should see, let me know!
